Rama Panthi, Kathmandu, Nepal
A revered Buddhist monk (Thaawaro Bhante) from Thailand, currently on a religious visit to Nepal, expressed profound reverence and heartfelt gratitude toward Nepal during a press conference held recently.
Describing Nepal as the sacred birthplace of Lord Buddha, he emphasized the nation’s unparalleled spiritual contribution to humanity. “Had Nepal not given birth to a महान soul like the Buddha, we would not have had the invaluable opportunity to become followers of Buddhism today,” he stated.
He further highlighted that the teachings of the Buddha continue to guide millions worldwide along the path of truth, peace, and compassion, adding that followers of Buddhism remain eternally indebted to Nepal.
Venerable Bhante compared Nepal to a ‘mother’ and described themselves as her ‘children.’ He also referred to Nepal as a ‘guru,’ while they are the ‘disciples.’ Upon arriving in Nepal, he shared that he experienced profound spiritual bliss, as though all sorrows and sufferings had faded away.
Concluding his remarks, he said, “Thank you, Nepal. Blessed are we,” expressing his emotions from the depths of his heart.
